School Curriculum Programs:

Gogango State School offers schooling from Kindergarten to Year 6. Over the course of the primary years, students are offered units of work based on the National Curriculum.

Our vision and school wide pedagogical principles are embedded in the curriculum offered to our students. Teaching and learning at Gogango State School incorporates:

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • History and studies of Society

  • Technology

  • The Arts

  • Health and Physical Education

  • Languages Other Than English (LOTE)

Support is offered to students and staff through:

  • Education Adjustment Plans for students with disabilities – in collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff;

  • Advisory Visiting Teachers provide support upon request for areas such as Speech Language and Physiotherapy;

  • Counselling may be provided for many issues (including behaviour management and bullying) by our allocated Guidance officer (or other community organizations on referral).

Homework

Homework is given at the teacher's discretion and is generally relevant to work being undertaken at school. It provides students with opportunities to consolidate their classroom learning, pattern behaviour for lifelong learning beyond the classroom and involve family members in their learning. As a parent, it is extremely important to encourage your child to develop good study habits. We encourage regular reading and the learning of spelling/number facts.

Parents should show interest in their children's activities at home and encourage reading by reading with children and to children, with plenty of praise for their efforts. Criticism should be avoided.

It is the responsibility of the parent to check with their children/teacher for set homework. If you have any concerns regarding homework, please clarify them with your child's teacher.
